History of Americans for Cures Foundation

Americans for Cures Foundation is a nonpartisan, 501(c)3 organization that was founded on November 3, 2004, the day after Proposition 71 was passed by 59% of California voters. With its passage, Proposition 71 created the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine (CIRM), a granting body to provide $3 billion in funding for stem cell research in California over the next ten years.

Previously known as the Alliance for Stem Cell Research, we continue to advocate for the 1.2 million Californians who signed petitions to put Proposition 71 on the ballot, for the seven million Californians who voted for Proposition 71, and for the 100 million Americans who have diseases and conditions that could be treated with advances in stem cell research.
