Our Mission

Our mission at Americans for Cures is to advocate for stem cell research and therapy development; and, ultimately, to improve the lives of patients and their families suffering from chronic disease and injury.

It is critical that the public is aware of the breakthroughs in stem cell research and therapy developments that have resulted from the passage of Proposition 71: the California Stem Cell Research and Cures Initiative. We at the Americans for Cures Foundation believe it is our responsibility to report back to the 7 million Californians—including 70+ patient advocacy organizations, 30+ Nobel Laureates, 150+ elected officials, 30+ Chambers of Commerce, business and labor groups, and many other key opinion leaders—who voted in support of Proposition 71.

To accomplish this goal, Americans for Cures is driving a patient advocate-led “Report Back to the Public” communications program to empower patient advocates, and to increase public awareness of breakthroughs in stem cell research and therapy development. As part of this Report Back to the Public, Americans for Cures develops accurate, educational content—all of which is vetted by its Scientific Advisory Board, which is comprised of 25 of California’s leading scientists and physician-scientists—and then disseminates that content to the public through a variety of platforms, including social media, online blogs, paid and earned media, patient advocacy organization networks and more.

Americans for Cures provides information and tools to advocates for stem cell research, to empower them and assist with their efforts to:

  • Distribute factual information about stem cell research;
  • Communicate effectively;
  • Encourage decision-makers to fund research and translate medical research breakthroughs into therapies for patients; and,
  • Find strength and hope in our shared vision and mission to improve the human condition and reduce suffering.

Today, for the first time in history, stem cell research offers real hope to those whose suffering has previously been considered incurable. The road is long and challenging, but scientists and physician-scientists, empowered by the people of California, have accomplished much. The path to success is within our grasp, if we can sustain the advances of the scientists dedicated to stem cell therapies.
